Dear Members of the Association for Visual Arts,

We are pleased to announce that, after a rigorous selection process, we have elected to appoint Olga Speakes as the incumbent Director of the Association. 

Olga comes to her role as a practicing independent curator of over 8 years as well as 10 years’ experience of working in the field of business administration, development and project management. Additionally, as a contract lecturer in art exhibition histories and public display at the Michaelis School of Fine Art, she will bring further insights drawn from her exposure to the latest research and best practice in these areas. 

Having served as a Board Member since October 2022, Olga is uniquely equipped with an understanding of all procedures and processes relating to the AVA, as well as the challenges we face as an non-profit, membership-based arts organisation.
