Join us for coffee and a walkabout with Philip Todres and Eris Silke on Saturday 9 March, 11am in the Long Gallery.
Eris Silke was born in Hungary and grew up in Israel. She is a self-taught artist and has been painting since the age of five. She obtained a degree in psychology from University of the Witswatersrand (Johannesburg), and then moved to Cape Town. She has been practising as a professional artist for forty years.
“It’s never been easy to meaningfully connect with people. My paintings are my way of expressing myself. Expressing the ‘real’ me… My inner landscape is often dark and inaccessible to those less introverted than myself. Still, I can not deny myself to compromise on the level of my inner authenticity in regard to my art.” - Eris Silke
