A colourful summer show for collectors, first-time buyers, visitors and all art-lovers. The Cape Town Salon 17/18 opens 14 December 2017.
Titled the Cape Town Salon, following up on previous years’ tributes to Rose Korber, the show will open on Thursday, December 14 and run for the duration of the festive season. A wide range of paintings, prints, installations, videos and jewellery will be on display and for sale. Participating artists include Siwa Mgoboza, Wandie Mesatywa, Benjamin Haskins, Grier Valley, David Brits, Claudia Shneider, Thina Dube, Beezy Bailey and another two dozen or so.
The vibrancy of local art – its playfulness, but also its colourful social suss - is the thread that runs through the rather eclectic group exhibition that the Association for Visual Arts has put together for its end-of-year summer celebration. It is the only time in the year when the AVA’s Selection Committee and Gallery staff showcase their individual preferences of art work of the moment.
