“In The Making” is this year’s offering from the Nando’s Creative Exchange programme. Featuring the works of Aviwe Plaatjie, Effo Munguanzo, Fanie Buys, and Qhamanande Maswana, the show is an exploration of portraiture through each artist’s unique practice.

As the title suggests this body of work is not about arriving at a certain place, but rather moving towards it. In their careers, practices, and the circumstances in which this show was produced, “In The Making” is a metamorphosis which continues to yield exciting results.

Working in isolation, collaborating via correspondence, the pieces on show here preserve the unique mark of each maker whilst coming together as patterns of human experience.
