I use photography and experimental video as a medium/medium of expression. I decided to explore the themes of migration, death, and memory. Moving from one region or state to another, or from one country to another, some people are buried where the umbilical cord buried, while others are buried in the cities, there is a strong connection between home where the person comes from. There are myths and stories about burials concerning many people in different way...We make space for the non-living within our communities but the memories of those buried fade in the soil.  I chose to put together dances as ritual, and burial grounds as memory archive sites.

Siphenathi Mayekiso in the video is a dancer, choreographer and theatre maker based in Cape Town. Yongisipho  Mthimkhulu is an actor from Strand, Mangae (Basotho initiation school hymns ) this represents a new beginning or reciting of a past or present. In the video the use of a wooden stick is essential to the story of migration, burial because men carry the sticks even in funerals and after.
